Let me just preface this post by saying I was a marketing major right up to the time I took an actually marketing class and quickly realized I am not nearly creative enough to be in marketing. I liked it, just didn’t love it. But still, everyday we are looking for ways to advertise our funeral home…in a tactful manner. Its kind of hard to have weekly specials in a funeral home so we have to get creative. I don’t know how in my searching for some good ideas I missed this tv commercial for an actual funeral home in Texas.
I can’t find anywhere that says this was actually on tv, but I do know that the funeral home that made it is legit. Golden Gate Funeral Home has 3 locations and does more than a thousand funerals a year. Everything I have read about them says that they are an outstanding funeral home that provides very high quality services. Check out their website at GoldenGateFuneralHome.com. My favorite part of the website is their fleet page. Its impressive. Makes me think they run a limo service on the side.
I have mixed feelings on the commercial. Part of me thinks that it is a little too obtrusive to have a person looking at their own funeral and paying attention to the fleet. But the other part of me thinks its a winner because that would get people to pay attention to the message and kudos to the funeral home for having the gusto to actually make a commercial like this. What are your thoughts???
hi im a youngster dreaming of becoming a mourtician and now frankly im kinda regretting i did
because im getting so much teasing that its getting to hard to carry on my dream can you give me a few words of encouragment to help me grit it out
I think people joke because they are uncomfortable. My old stand when someone has already annoyed me and makes another smart remark at me is to laugh and say “i’ve never heard that one before!” and when they say “really?” I reply “no. not really. there are only four funeral home jokes everyone tells me and you just told me standard #3.” That usually quiets them up, but make sure you are saying it with a real sarcastic tone. And if all else fails, just start making fun of what they want to do. Hopefully they want to be lawyers cause there is plenty of material there.
Alex, all I can say is keep at it. People will have their jokes until they need you. Then they will realize there is no joke about the service a great funeral director can provide.
